ViewFont is very simple to use. All you have to do is click on one of the fonts listed in the fonts field and, well, see what it looks like.
If you want to change the sentence used, you can click on the "Replace sentence..." button. You will be asked for a new sentence. If you cancel, the pre-defined sentence ("Thiz is a sentence, my man... xplore it!") will be used. If you hold the option key down, the Replace sentence... button will change name to Lock fields or Unlock fields, thus enabling you to lock or unlock the sentence and character fields. This in turn enables you to write your own stuff in the fields, copy characters, and so on.
If you feel like changing the size of the font, simply click on the field saying "- Click to change size -" and enter the new size.
If you really want some changes, something like changing the style of the text, select the appropriate styles by marking and unmarking the checkboxes in the "Select styles" section of ViewFont.
If you need to update the ASCII code based text click on the "Update characters" button. This will update the no-box set if the "Use ASCII set" button is unmarked or the ASCII set if it is marked.
To use the set of characters that most fonts display as actual characters and not boxes, click on the "Use ASCII set" radio button to unmark it. When unmarked, the no-box set will be used.
If you need to update the list of fonts, all you have to do is click on the "Update Fonts" button.
